I had a vision when I was 10. I saw a simple mug. I wasn't offered ceramics as a youth I was introduced to it when my children were in school. Fortunately Temple University's Tyler Campus offered ceramics courses and I could take advantage of them as an employee of the hospital. I took wheel throwing, hand building and raku. I loved them!
Clay. It's plastic qualities make it fun to handle. Porcelain, stoneware, low fire clays, raku clays all have their own set of challenges. Red and Black clays require special glazes. When you get it right there's no feeling like it!
I was a small farmer in my past. I continue to seek out natural phenomena. A chrysalis or birds egg, a rock formation or blooming plant will make their way onto my pots.
